Formed in early 2019, Down Not Out are a pop-punk four piece from Cheltenham/Worcester. DNO are led by front woman Jo who also plays lead guitar. Jo is joined by Char on rhythm guitar, James on bass and Ryan on drums. Down Not Out delivers a fun and upbeat experience with every listen but their songs often have deeper meanings. The very name signifies the band’s belief that nobody should ever give up fighting for what they believe in or for what they feel is right. The band draw inspiration from the early 2000 alt rock / pop-punk scene and bring this high tempo and angsty energy into each performance. Being music lovers themselves, the relationship the band have with their fans is a huge factor in why they do what they do and always try to give as much back as possible. DNO fight for the underdog and their music is for anyone who has ever felt like they don’t fit in.

Jo has always adored music. Her first performance came at the age of two in front of a packed dentist waiting room somewhere in Birmingham when she sang a one-woman rendition of Hakuna Matata and has been making people listen to her sing (willingly and unwillingly) ever since. She always unknowingly loved pop punk and alternative music, gravitating to Blink-182 on her sister’s NOW! CDs and the Tony Hawk Pro Skater soundtracks. This was closely followed by the discovery of My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy and Paramore and thus began her everlasting emo phase. Jo spent many years honing her songwriting skills, indulging in genres from the obvious pop punk to country and folk inspired. In her free time Jo’s other interests include photography/videography, video games, cooking/baking and reading.

Charlotte began playing pots and pans when she was a child and her mum knew from a young age she was going to enjoy making noise. Despite being the tallest member of the band at 6'3" she is not the basketball player she likes to imagine she is, and can be found in her spare time playing video games and dancing with her dogs in front of the mirror to 90's pop ballads. Char can play the drums and bass and has been playing the guitar for the last 6 years striving to be like her idols. Char takes inspiration for her guitar playing from bands such as Green Day and All Time Low and is hugely inspired by Brendon Urie.
Music is the soundtrack to every good and bad time we will ever have.Alex Gaskarth
James can be described as a quiet person, but loud plugged in. He’s played guitar for around 15 years on and off, and during that time has been influenced by many rock/punk/indie and metal bands. Originally influenced by bands such as Green Day, Sum 41, Blink 182 and Less Than Jake in his early teens, as time went on he began listening to harder rock and punk bands such as Foo Fighters and Billy Talent. With a side interest in metal for good measure. As time went on he developed his playing style and managed to transfer his guitar playing over to bass to try a new take on his old hobby. In his free time he likes to listen to music, play video games and exercise.
I sort of enjoy the fact that I'm misunderstood most of the time. That's fine.Billie Joe Armstrong

Ryan started playing drums in 2018 after years of writing music and performing as a vocalist. A part time law enthusiast and a full time nerd, Ryan works in law and spends his free time either playing sports, video games or sports video games. Ryan truly believes that New Found Glory are the pioneers of pop-punk and Dave Grohl is his hero. He also plays guitar and bass.
